Workshop on determining the shelf life of food products was organized by IBT ITK. This event presented Dr. Nugraha Edhi Suyatma, Lecturer of Food Science and Technology Department of IPB University. Workshop was attended by 59 participants from businesses in the field of processed food, both from ITK students and the public. At this event, Mr. Edi explained several categories of food products and factors that affect the damage and decrease in the quality of each product. These factors will become a reference in determining the shelf life of the product. He said basically the determination of the shelf life of the product takes the principle of speed equation.
On this occasion, Mr. Edi also explained several strategies to improve the shelf life of food products. Among them are related to the prevention of moisture and the growth of microorganisms in food products. The event which was attended by various business people and entrepreneurial escorts was dominated by discussion sessions. Participants are so actively consulted about the problems they face in the implementation of their respective businesses.
Branding is very important for startup businesses. This was the main topic of the webinar of the Startup Incubation (INSTAIN) “How to Develop Branding for Startups”. ITS, thanks to the SMART project co-funded by the European Union, implemented this webinar in order to enhance university-business cooperation.
One of the governments’ programs to improve the students’ creativity in Higher Education institutions is the National Students’ Creativity Program Competition. Entrepreneurship is one of the fields in the competition. This program is good for developing student’s potential entrepreneurship because it gives chance the students’ to realize their business proposal under the supervision of the lecturer. The UNDIP’s Faculty of Economics and Business students were expected to contribute more to the program especially the entrepreneurship field. The KKIB Business Incubator in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Students’ Community held the School of Business program in order to help the students preparing the proposal for the competition. The Erasmus+ and Smart Project inspired the UNDIP Smart team to hold the activity.

Entrepreneurial Student Skills Training or Latihan Keterampilan Mahasiswa Wirausaha (LKMW) was held by the Division of Entrepreneurship of Students Organization in Kalimantan Institute of Technology (KM ITK). LKMW aims to provide motivation and foster an entrepreneurial spirit for ITK students. Thus, it is expected that in the future ITK alumni will be able to contribute to open jobs through businesses run. The event, which was held online through zoom platform, was attended by more than 500 ITK students. The event opened with a speech from ITK entrepreneurship coach, Nashrul Millah, S.Si., M.Si. followed by a speech from the chairman of KM ITK and Chief of Entrepreneurship KM ITK.
The LKMW materials consist of three sessions, namely: Exploring business ideas and creative thinking; motivation and mindset of entrepreneurs; and BMC (Business Model Canvas). This materials were delivered by ITK students and alumni who have experiences in the field of entrepreneurship. As the output of this activity, participants conducted a simulation on the last day of training on November 28. During the simulation session participants were asked to present business ideas in the form of Bussiness Model Canvas (BMC).
This event was in collaboration with the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) and the Big Indonesia Facilitator Institute. The workshop was attended by 59 participants from businesses in the field of processed food, both from ITK students and the public. Participants were given materials about processes and procedures for registration of processed food products in BPOM, technically obtained a certificate of circulation permit (SPP-IRT) from the Balikpapan City Health Office, training on household industry governance both in terms of the environment and production process by Loka POM Balikpapan and training in making good labels and packaging by IBT-ITK.
Balikpapan City Health Office represented by Dra. P. Triwulaningsih, Apt, M.Kes. , Head of SDK, gave an exposure to how businesses can obtain SPP-IRT. Businesses must have followed the food counseling conducted by the Health Department. Balikpapan City Health Office itself actively programs food counseling 5 times a year. But there are still many obstacles such as the lack of fulfillment of business quotas etc. Head of Balikpapan City POM Office Dra. Sumiaty Haslinda, Apt. explained the production standards as well as a good environment so that businesses’ products can get a certificate of circulation permit from BPOM RI. In addition, one of the aspects that must be registered at the time of registering the product to the BPOM circulation permit, businesses must have good labels and packaging.
The Business Incubator of The Kalimantan Institute of Technology Technology (IBT-ITK) held a WEBINAR with the theme: The The Urgency of Legality for Startup and Businesses. The webinar presented the office of Investment and One-Door Integrated Investment (DPMPT-SP) Balikpapan City. DPMPT as the Presenter in the Webinar explained how the submission of Business Legality and terms that must be prepared by business actors. The webinar was attended by 47 businesses and prospective businesses. IBT-ITK not only targets businesses as webinar participants but also prospective businesses because sometimes many do not understand what the legality of the business and the importance and technical care of the legal. The webinar was held for approximately 3 hours with great enthusiasm from participants even though it was done online.
